New UK TaxiBook Installation Live in Southend

Having recently combined with other fleets in the area it became apparent to Alpine that a system was needed to help manage their growth in a controlled fashion. Being very familiar with the taxi market and the usual functionality provided by scheduling systems, the proprietor, Peter Richmond, wanted the very best solution that could help him grow his business. However, he was also aware of the great costs that can be required to put in place a truly professional and resilient hardware and software platform to support 24 hour operations, 365 days per year.
The Mobisoft Managed Server option, coupled with their TaxiBook Express system provided a solution that is used by very large circuits in many European countries, without having to make expensive capital investment in locally support hardware.
Peter’s dispatchers connect to the TaxiBook application from an Internet browser using standard PC’s.
“We can connect to our application literally from anywhere in the world. This is important as we sometimes manage from multiple offices. It’s even possible to see what’s going on from home.”
Mobisoft developed the TaxiBook Express solution so that Caller Line Identification (CLI) is available from the Managed Servers. A compact unit intercepts the caller’s number and provides it to the dispatcher’s computer. The Managed Servers are able to map onto the machine’s ports and ‘pop up’ the details for the caller and their previous bookings. All the dispatcher needs to do is click on the required booking.
“CLI is very important to us,” says Peter. “A complete booking can be taken in a few seconds using around 4 mouse clicks. The percentage of CLI bookings may be as high as 80% so having the process automated gives a huge reduction in booking time.”
Alpine’s drivers receive their jobs via compact XDA units. The vehicle units also provide turn by turn guidance and navigation.
The combination of TaxiBook and Mobisoft’s unique Managed Server approach gives Alpine all of the benefits of one of Europe’s leading automated dispatching systems without the cost of setting up and managing a complex computing environment.
“The real power of the system is that on a single screen we can see the status of every vehicle, current bookings, upcoming bookings, and, something most other systems don’t seem to give, the status of bookings already allocated to cars.” says Peter, “We can immediately identify if the passenger is not getting exactly what they need".
"TaxiBook Billing is also great. It guides us through the process of invoicing passengers, acknowledging receipt of payment, clearing driver payments etc. It allows drivers to enter actual costs in the car and have these sent back into the billing process.
We are soon to introduce a second taxi company being scheduled from our existing call centre. TaxiBook Express gives me the confidence that we can do this quickly and very effectively.”
