Shropshire County Council launch county-wide DRT service 21.01.2009 Shropshire County Council, after running a trial DRT service using Mobirouter and the Mobisoft Travel Centre, rolled-out the scheme county-wide to provide a service into all the market towns from outlying rural areas. The project encompassed axing a number of heavily subsidised fixed bus routes and incorporating their routes into a more flexible 'demand responsive' programme. Running in 9 zones using accessible minibuses the opportunities for transport to market towns and to connect with fixed links into Shrewsbury and major centres have been greatly improved. Ridership levels have been maintained compared with the fixed routes and as marketing continues the scheme is becoming more popular week-on-week. Back to news frontpage |
